I kept a Bengal Eagle owl from fugly for a number of years and one of his favourite little comforters was to hold my finger while I either stroked his beak with my thumb or wiggled his head just a little bit (dont do it with an owl you dont know you could lose a finger) It always made him close his eyes and coo quietly …lots of birds get a huge amount of sensation from touching their beak, and gently rubbing an owls beak with a cotton bud or suede stick is really comforting
