Snipey is adoptable! Apply to adopt her here: https://roniesloveofbirds.com/adoption and please support your local bird rescue by making the birds safe toys to play with, fresh food or even fostering a parrot in need.

Special note: Capri kept calling Snipey “Sweet Pea” (what my mom used to call Capri when she was really little) and the rescue decided to call her that too since no one could properly pronounce her name. So if you call to adopt, ask for Sweet Pea!

We visited one of our favorite bird rescues, Ronie’s For the Love of Birds, and let my 7yr old daughter pick out a bird she wanted to work with and train for the two days we were visiting. She picked out Snipey the pineapple cheek conure, a female bird whose age is unknown but was surrendered to the rescue for biting her previous owners. Check out the progress we made with Snipey in just two days! Snipey, along with the other birds shown in this video, are all in need of committed, FOREVER homes. Please do not adopt a bird unless you are prepared to do so, otherwise you will likely be another home along the line of many that a rescue bird will get constantly passed from.

Capri is so articulate, and she is way better with animals than I was at her age. Granted, you can’t (usually) train cats the same way you can train parrots, but she reminded me of myself and it made me feel very warm.

Birds like millests the most so try that as a treat! It will work much better with training your bird!!

I rescued an older cockatiel from a shelter. He is 10 years old and was neglected by his old ow ears. The first day he bit and hissed, he was on the diet of only fatty seeds and no fruits and vegetables whatsoever. Within the first week, with hours of patience and kindness, he ate from my hand and stood on it. We now have a strong bond and is always with me when I am home. Birds may be demanding already as it is, but please consider adopting as all birds can be loved with time and patience.

AMAZING! I have lived a life in fear of birds. For 49years. I started watching your channel even through I hade scary butteflies in My tummy I kept om watching and the more You teatched me, the more my fear started to disapear. I am so proud over myself.
I don't rum when birds fly outside and I have showed my children that there is nothing to fear but fear itself. 😜
So one day I will hold a Bird. In Sweden it's more normal with dogs and cats and we don't have rescues. It's not neded in the scence like in the USA or Australia.
So Capri, you showed me how to do! Thank you.
I will one Day get a parrot or two. But in the meentime I will try and call someone who wants to sell there parrot and ask if I can come even though I can't buy right now.
Parrots are very expensive in Sweden so a mother of five kids, 11, 13, 14, 16 and 26 years so the time is now so some of them also can enjoy the parrot like me. Will start to save. 🦜🦜🦜

Capri is not even scared of the bird biting her, and me, I am the exact opposite! 😂😅 I have two budgies, Lemon and Blue and they are really really jealous of each other! Oh! And very very much stubborn!!!!! Blue jumps into the food bowl! And poor lemon! Lemon steals food from blue’s mouth all of the time! I have a lot more to tell you all when you ask!

I had a Alexandria that was a rescue and was plucking it's feathers and never let out the cage. I was told, Never put your hand in her cage because she can take a finger. I said BS you don't know how to talk bird! After getting her home I grabbed a banana pulled off a chunk and waited, with my hand in the cage without a glove. after about a hour she started making happy sounds when she took the banana. So I moved the banana up my arm until she was on my shoulder. I made clicking and whistling sounds and moved my head to touch her. She bit me a few times but not hard. Day 2, I reached in the cage and she walked up my arm to my shoulder where I had a slice of banana which I recorded to show the jerks I got her from. See all she wants is attention and love! Her feathers grew back and lived out her days flying around my house and pooping. Bird poop never bothers me.
