As a mother to Sierra, the yellow side green cheek conure,ur vid is very helpful.
I am a first time bird owner ,and I am getting a gcc soon.do u have any tips and tricks?
I just bought a conure a week ago and he wont have anything to do with me and yesterday I had to forcibly take him out of his cage because his identification band was entangled with his rope and know he is terrified of me. Will he forgive me for what I did?
So glad I found your channel. I'm bringing home a bonded pair of GCCs from my local parrot rescue. I'm so excited, but daunted about wanting to do the best for them. Thanks for all your great videos! My main concern is that one of the birds needs daily medication. I'm worried this will destroy our bonding process, having to give her meds when we haven't formed a bond yet. Any tips on that?
Actually my conure was perfect from the very beginning! He chose me and we've been inseparable since. I'm here because I got a second conure and have no idea how to tame it. Never had to go through this process with my first π
i wanted to ask; are bird daipers ok?
I'm going to try these techniques but I'm not sure that'll work for me
My bird has only been in my home a couple days. He seems pretty happy so far but does not like me at all. It's quite confusing because he was allowing me to give him head scratches at the store, a week before I went back to bring him home. Since he's been home (3 days so far) my 5 year old and husband have been able to give him head scratches but he will not let me π’
He does not seem scared because if I open his door to get him food or water he rushes over to bite at my fingers while I'm trying to latch or unlatch the cage door. I did get my nails done the day before I bright him home and they are red and shiny. I don't know if the fake nails have anything to do with it or not. I'm not giving up and will try these techniques but I'm curious if anyone had other advice for me because he just doesn't seem scared of me. I do not corner him while trying to change his food and water I wait until he's away from the dishes. He seems territorial to me but he does not do this if my husband opens the cage and grabs the food and water dishes. Any advice welcomed
I just had a green cheek fly into my yard. I got him put him in dog kennel bought toys food everything.
I post it on Facebook trying to find owner but no luck. Somebody did reach out and give me a free huge cage! I have stand the lighting though. She is getting to like me and likes sitting on me and cuddling while watch youtube but I can't stand the bighting
Hi Sophie! I have a question about target training. What if my bird touches the stick gently but when I offer the treat she gets frustrated and bites? Should I still give the treat? Sometimes she manages to bite and snatch the treat at the same time. I usually stop TT at this point, but in reality I donβt know how to react.
I recently adopted a year old, untamed green cheek. Your tips were a great reminder! Thank you!
Hi, I just got a pineapple conure β¦this is so helpful. Thank you.
I got a baby pineapple. He was very skittish so I just gave him time. It took two weeks of me basically changing his food and water and talking sweet. Patience and spending time wi the them is the key. It's worth it

Hi again Sophie π Another great video thank you!
I have a question about diet: I recently got two rescue GCC, a 5 yo female and a 3 yo unknown gender. For two years they have been in a cage, staying with the mother of the owner in her flat, in a dark hallway, with no UV-lights and on a very poor diet: two food bowls were in the cage; one with coloured small pellets (untouched?) and one bowl filled with sunflower seeds. She told me they love sunflower seeds (really?) so maybe that was all they were eating for a longer period – I'm not sure.
Anyway, I put them on a healthier diet once they came home with me, with veggie chop mixed with boiled quinoa, and Harrison's pellets. They seem to like it, and they are eating/nibbling from the bowl. (Their beaks are a bit overgrown I think so they weren't able so pick up smaller parts, so I soaked the food with a spoon of water to make it more sticky.)
But I am afraid that they are tossing most of the food on the cage floor so I offered some sunflower seeds through the bar. They took them willingly, the younger quite aggressively, as if he/she was aiming to bite off my finger in stead, and the older female took the seed gently and seemed to enjoy it.
I'm confused about how to proceed. Have watched your videos on behaviour and diet and bonding, and trying to follow every step, but it would be awesome to get even more tips on how to treat parrots that have been neglected and on a very poor diet for a long time.
Thank you so much – hope to hear from you :)))
I just got a green cheek conure. When he is in the cage, I wait for him to come up front and sit on his perch by the door. Once he does that I open the door and if he's still sitting there, I hold out my finger for him to sit on, but instead of hopping onto my finger, he puts his head next to it to be scratched. I try holding a millet spray in my other hand to get him to hop on my finger, but he keeps doing the same thing and wants his head scratched. How do I get him to understand I want him to hop on my finger? If he's out of the cage, he has no problem hopping onto my finger when I hold it out.

I just got 2 of them πmale and female
