9 TIPS ON HOW TO TURN AN AGGRESSIVE BITER BIRD INTO A TAME SWEET PET BIRD!

Here are my 8 tips from my book
on how to stop your bird from biting! In this video I am showing you the transformation of only 1 week after getting an aggressive unwanted pet bird that didn’t get handled for 20 years.
I notice that Coco my new double yellow headed amazon was faking the bites. You can’t show any fear. These are the tricks I used to turn my amazon around to avoid biting you. If a bird bites you it’s their way to show you what they need. You can learn bird behavior in my bestseller book How to Train Your parrot and more.

Our Amazon parrot has claws as sharp as hypodermic needles. We used to trim and blunt them with a Dremel tool, but this required immobilizing him by wrapping him in a towel, which he hated. So, we stopped, and his claws are now too sharp for us to hold him with our hands, arms, or shoulders, which we used to do when we had his claws blunted.
So, how do you keep your parrot's claws blunted?

I have a blue fronted amazon, she is 1 year old, we got her as a baby. She loves my husband and my son but she hates me. She usually just ignores my existence, but if i come too close to her or even offer a snack, she will immediately try to bite me. She is very gentle when my son offers her a snack and never bites him even when he annoys her. There wasn't any trauma and I haven't done anything bad to her. She just has her favorites. In fact, I'm the person who spends the most time with her at home, and I always talk to her a lot. Is there a chance to train her and fix the broken relationship that I have with her? Or is this a lost battle?

Am getting a yellow head Amazon parrot tomorrow. She has been pasted around. In your book does it have anything that tells you how to earn her trust?

I really love the Double Yellow headed Amazon parrots. You have such a pleasant way with teaching your birds.

      I’ve had parakeet’s but I’ve never had a parrot.

I wish there was a way that instructions are given to the person getting a pet bird on what to feed them, and that their beaks and claws have to be trimmed by an Avian vet. You can trim the claws if you’ve been trained properly. We are not suppose to touch or rub under their wings or low back and under neath the tail, because that touching and rubbing a parrot on certain places as that, stimulates their hormones and they want to mate when you do that. It frustrates them. If I hadn’t watched parrot owners warn against that I wouldn’t know to not rub and scratch their head only. I see so many go under their wings when the bird raises them and scratch away. They don’t know what it does to the bird. 😮

What human would want to get kissed and hugged and get all wound up, then the person who did that walks off.😬😩.

I’ve learned a lot by watching parrot owners on You Tube shows about what to feed parrots. All I knew to feed my parakeets was seeds. No instructions came with the parakeet. Without instructions people don’t know. I bought a parakeet book that helped me know more about them.

🌴 Hi Carolin , Question which makes a better pet a male Amazon or female ? Some people say male birds talk more than females as in the wild the squawk more to attract the females and get very vocal , some people say that female amazons can get hormonal and aggressive as they go into egg laying mode ,as they are trying to protect the young even while there just setting on an egg and they don’t get as vocal to keep other predatory birds from knowing that there nesting , 🤔 I’m in process of trying to adopt a yellow head Amazon female that’s 31 years old her name is Sierra she was surrendered by and elderly couple to a avian vet that now has her up for adoption, she does say about 10 different words according to the receptionist and they changed her from a seed diet to pellets only diet 👈🏼🤔 I was told that she has stepped up for a couple of the girls that work there and she prefers men as handlers , they had her for about 3 months , they said she wasn’t a biter , ( never trust that ! ) 😄 her plumage is dull , I don’t think that she is handled much or talked to , I’m hoping my adoption is chosen this week 😳

I have a yellow naped amazon (20yrs old) and we rescued him from a group of guys that often threw beer cans at him and they also kept him on the porch. My bird is so beautiful and i know he has the sweetest soul ever but it really pains me to know he went through that. Before we got him he was fed cheeseburgers and really anything else they had

    • @gayleearnhart9113

A friend of my daughter wants to give me a 40 year old yellow nape who he says does not like to be touched or held. Should I pass?
